About Puppy Time · Vancouver

The person looking after your pet is someone you've already met.

Marybeth has been looking after other people's pets since 2015, professionally since 2016, and Puppy Time has been licensed and registered since 2020. It is still one trusted person in your home, caring for your dog or cat the way she would want her own cared for.

How Puppy Time started

Marybeth grew up with two dogs and three cats. The one she was closest to was Penelope, her cat, who was her sister, her best friend, and her first therapist.

Years later she was living in a Vancouver building that didn't allow pets, and she missed having an animal in her life enough to do something about it.

2015She starts looking after a dog for a woman she has never met, who works overnight shifts and weekends. When that family moves out to Coquitlam, she goes looking for other people she can help.
2016Nobody comes to her directly until she gets on DogVacay. That is where the paid work starts. Rover comes after that, and a few years of building a clientele.
August 2020Puppy Time is licensed and registered as its own business.
TodayMore than 120 individual dogs and cats, more than 80 breeds, and 5.0 out of 5 on Google. Marybeth has had animals in her life for 41 years, ten of them professional.

That's still the whole idea. It's why the care happens one-on-one, in your pet's own home, with their own bed, their own routine, and their own walk. Marybeth still delivers about half the work herself, and every booking is arranged by her personally. If your pet is reactive, anxious, elderly, or on medication, that is a large part of what we do.

Founder
Pet Care Specialist
Reiki Master

Ten years caring for animals professionally, and forty-one years of her life with animals in it. She's looked after more than 120 individual dogs and cats across more than 80 breeds, and the longest single stay so far ran two months.

A lot of her work is with the pets other people find hard. Reactive dogs, anxious dogs, seniors, rescues settling into a new home, pets recovering from surgery, medications, special diets. Tell her the honest version of your pet and she'll tell you straight away whether she's the right fit.

She's based in Coal Harbour and takes clients across Downtown, the West End, Yaletown, Kitsilano, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.

You'll always know who's coming

This is the question most people don't think to ask until they're already away. Marybeth still delivers about half the work herself, and every booking is arranged by her personally. When someone else covers a visit, it is someone she has vetted and trained herself, from the beginning, to the standard of care Puppy Time has become known for. She does not hand your pet to anyone she has not taught how she works.

1

Marybeth arranges every booking

Every single one goes through her. She knows your pet, your home, and what your care plan says.

2

One caregiver, start to finish

One person is assigned to your booking and stays for the whole visit.

3

The same person next time

Book again and you'll get that caregiver wherever we can manage it, because your pet knowing them makes a real difference.

4

You meet them first, every time

Every caregiver meets you and your pet before they ever work with them. Nothing goes ahead until you're comfortable.

We look after the home, too. On longer stays we bring in the mail and packages, water the plants, put the bins out, wash the bedding and towels, and leave the place at least as tidy as we found it. A few extras can be added on request. See the full list on Services

Meet us before you book

Tell us about your pet and your dates, and we'll set up a quick hello, then an in-person meet & greet with the person who'll be caring for them.
