Why home matters
You know the feeling of picking your dog up from a kennel and they're just... off. Not eating. Worn out. A little shut down. That's stress, and it's completely normal in a strange, noisy place full of other animals. Keeping your pet in their own home, their own bed, their own walk, and their own feeding schedule is the single biggest thing that keeps them calm while you're gone. So that's what we do. We come to them.
You'll always know exactly who's coming
This is the question most people don't think to ask until they're already away. Here's how we handle it.
Marybeth arranges every booking
Every single one goes through her. She knows your pet, your home, and what your care plan says.
One person, start to finish
One caregiver is assigned to your pet and stays for the whole visit. Book again and you get that same person wherever possible, because your dog knowing them matters.
You meet them first, every time
If Marybeth is away or your usual sitter is booked, you'll meet whoever is stepping in beforehand. Nothing goes ahead until you're comfortable with them.
Dog Walking & Exercise
A good walk is the best part of a dog's day, and it keeps them calmer, happier, and healthier. We walk your dog one-on-one, or with one familiar buddy if they love a bit of company. Walks are always on-leash, and we'll happily reinforce whatever your dog is already learning at home or with their trainer.
Currently walking in Downtown, the West End, Coal Harbour, and Yaletown.

Dog & Cat Sitting
This is where we really get to know your pet. Staying with your dog or cat for longer stretches lets us bond with them, learn their quirks, and build real trust. You'll get daily photos and videos so you can see they're happy, and we'll FaceTime so you can say hi. You come home to a content pet and a home that's just as tidy as you left it.
We offer hourly sitting, overnight stays (around 12 hours, say 8pm to 8am), full 24-hour care, and longer. Our longest stay so far was two months, and we loved every minute.
Great for when you:
- Work overnight shifts
- Want someone with an anxious or recovering pet for a few hours
- Travel for work or for fun
- Head out for dinner, the theatre, or the symphony
- Need more than a quick drop-in
For daytime care of 4 to 8 hours, see 1-on-1 Daycare below. Weekly and monthly rates available on request.
1-on-1 Daycare
Daycare without the kennel. We care for your pet one-on-one, right in their own home, while you head to work or out into your day. It's perfect for puppies, senior dogs, pets recovering from surgery, dogs with reactivity or behavioural needs, and any pet who finds a busy group setting hard work or struggles with being alone.
Additional hours past 8 are $20 each, to a maximum of $200 for the day. Monthly rates available on request.
For visiting pet parents
Hotel Pet Sitting
In Vancouver with your dog and want to actually enjoy the city? We come to your hotel or rental and stay with them while you head out. A concert, a wedding, whale watching, a long dinner, a night out, we've got your pup so you're not leaving them alone in a strange room or cutting your evening short.
Bonus: we love this city, and we're happy to point you to the best restaurants, cafes, clubs, theatres, and things to do while you're here.
Additional hours past 8 are $25 each, to a maximum of $275 for the day. Weekly and monthly rates available on request. Just arrived and need someone today? Call or text and we'll tell you straight away if we can cover it. We often can.
Drop-in Visits
Sometimes your pet just needs a quick check-in. We'll stop by for a potty break, breakfast or dinner, a litter box clean, or a little cuddle and play. Visits run 15 to 30 minutes. If your pet could use more time, our hourly sitting is the better fit.
We help dogs and cats.
Changes and cancellations
Plans change, and we'd always rather you told us early.
More than 7 days' notice: we'll credit the full amount toward your next booking.
Less than 7 days' notice: the booking is non-refundable. That time was held for your pet and turned away from someone else.
If you book with us regularly, talk to us. We'll work something out.
What we don't take on
So you're not waiting on an answer:
- Boarding at our own home
- Group daycare or dog parks
- Breeding services
- Dog parties and events, where a pack of dogs is brought in for guests
- Training, though we'll happily reinforce what your dog is already learning
Everything we do is one-on-one, in your pet's own space.
Reading your pet, not just watching them
Marybeth is a trained Reiki Master, and years of that work changed how she reads animals. Pets tell you a lot before anything shows on the outside. A shift in breathing. A dog who settles in one room and never the other. A cat who eats fine but stops asking for anything.
When a pet is unsettled, whether they're recovering from surgery, adjusting to a new home, or just missing you, we work with that instead of waiting it out. Sometimes that's a change in routine or a quieter space. Sometimes it's sitting with them and letting them calm down in their own time.
This is simply part of how we care for your pet. It's included in every stay, and it's a good part of why anxious and reactive pets tend to do well with us.
Daily photos and videos, every single day
You'll get a little window into your pet's day, every day. The kind of photo that makes you stop and smile in the middle of your trip. FaceTime anytime you miss them.
We look after the home, too
Coming home should feel good. On longer stays, here's what we take care of while we're there.
A few extras, if you'd like them
A proper clean before you're back. We keep things tidy as standard. If you'd like a full professional clean, we'll coordinate with your own cleaner, or bring in ours, who is excellent.
Errands and appointments. Groceries, the dry cleaning, even getting your car in for a service.
Dinner sorted for your first night. Prepped or made, so you can walk in and eat.
Just mention it when we plan your stay and we'll quote it with everything else.
Questions pet parents ask
Do you stay in my home?
Yes. For all of our pet sitting, we care for your pet right in your home so they keep their own bed, routine, and surroundings. It's the calmest option for them and the easiest on you.
Can you watch my dog at my hotel while I'm visiting Vancouver?
Yes, it's one of our most popular services. We come to your hotel or rental and stay with your dog, half day or full day, so you can head out to a concert, a wedding, dinner, the theatre, or whale watching without worrying. We walk them, keep them company, and send photos while you're out.
Who will actually be caring for my pet?
Marybeth arranges every booking herself, and one caregiver is assigned to your pet for the whole visit. Book again and you'll get that same person wherever we can manage it, because your pet knowing them makes a real difference. If Marybeth is away or your usual sitter is booked, you'll meet whoever is stepping in beforehand, and nothing goes ahead until you're comfortable with them.
Will I get updates while I'm away?
Every day, guaranteed. Photos and videos so you can see your pet is happy and relaxed, plus FaceTime whenever you want to say hi.
Are you insured?
Yes. Puppy Time is fully insured, licensed with the City of Vancouver, and registered, and we've been caring for Vancouver pets since 2015. We're happy to provide a certificate of insurance on request.
Do you take groups, or just my pet?
Sitting, daycare, and drop-ins are always one-on-one. Walks are one-on-one, or with one familiar buddy where both dogs genuinely enjoy each other's company. We only ever pair dogs that are reliably comfortable with other dogs.
My pet is older, anxious, or on medication. Can you help?
Yes, and it's a lot of what we do. We're experienced with senior pets, anxious pets, pets recovering from surgery, medications, and special diets. Marybeth is a trained Reiki Master, and reading an animal's energy is part of how we care for every pet we look after.
How far ahead should I book?
Earlier is better, especially for holidays and long weekends, which fill up first. That said, do call or text if it's short notice. We can often help the same day, and we'd rather you asked.
What if my plans change?
Let us know as early as you can. More than seven days out, we'll credit the full amount toward your next booking. Under seven days, the booking is non-refundable, because that time was held for your pet and turned away from someone else. If you book with us regularly, talk to us and we'll work something out.
What areas do you serve?
Vancouver and around it, with our main service areas including Downtown, Coal Harbour, Yaletown, the West End, Kitsilano, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.
Meet us before you book. It's free.
Tell us about your pet and your dates, and we'll set up a quick hello, then a free in-person meet & greet with the person who'll be caring for them.
